ART
What do you do? How do you define yourself as an artist?
I do what I love to do!I paint!- I enjoy creating unique portrait art pieces. I love to see them come alive with every stroke that I make. I paintings are in the realm of realism with a touch of my interpretation. I tend to capture the soul of the subject and then I portray my interpretation in the subjects eys.
What is your message?
My message is to allow me to bring out the true beauty of any subject and portray it through my art. I am privilege to see aspects of the subject that others cannot see. I wish to bring out those unique features for all to see.
Your biography in four lines.
Wow!a biography in 4 lines!- well I do have one on my website - http://www.olgazart.com/Artist-Biography.html - hopefully that webpage will shed a bit of light me.
Do you upload your work to the web? If so, where could we see it?
Yes, I have a website that exhibits my portraits and other eclectic works. You can view my pieces at: www.olgazart.com
How is an idea born? For you, what is inspiration?
Well for a portrait, that is pretty simple .. I am just inspired by the photo of the subject. I always prefer a high resolution image, so that I can look into the eyes of the person that I am painting. For my other works, ideas come to mind from my day to day experiences and activities. If my daughter sees an animal at the zoo or on TV, I may get an idea to paint a particular piece of work. I am inspired by the people around me that I love.
What role does technology play in your creative process?
I like to use a camera, it helps me capture a particular subject. PC tools such as Photoshop help me with lighting as I usually do not carry lighting equipment with me.
I like to focus on the light .. it really helps me bring out a certain emphasis.
What is art?
What is not art ? I see everything as art .. I see the beauty in everything .. I tend to have a positive outlook on life .. I see life as art ...
When do you get your best ideas?
The best ideas come to me when I am in a good mood. I tend to want to paint what I am thinking about and I usually paint positive moments.
How do you evaluate whether an idea is good or not?
I share my ideas with friends and family. They usually give me positive thoughts on what to create .. I love their ideas.
Three creative ideas that you would have liked to have created?
Good question:
1 - The Hot Shower
2 - Time Machine (Not created, but I am working on it ;) )
3 - The AirPlane
;)
When and how did you begin to see yourself as an artist?
As a young girl, I wasn't even speaking yet, but I was drawing. My mother even then knew that I would be painting one day.
Why do so many artists and creators have such volatile personalities?
Ummm , not sure ... I think I'm pretty normal, can't speak on behalf of others .. maybe they need to be a bit loopy to be creative .
Do you consider yourself postmodern?
No - I really don't see myself in any particular slot ... I tend to do things my way, my feelings, my style .. not really influenced by anything particular.
How should a work of art be evaluated?
I evaluate my own .. creativity is hard to evaluate .. it is what it is ....
Must an artist reinvent him/herself everyday?
Up to them, if they are not happy with what they have at hand, why not .. if you are happy .. leave things alone.
Which artists do you admire and how do they influence your work?
I like Leonardo da Vinci, no influence, I just like his work. I really love God's work .. I am certainly influenced by his Art work, life!
What do you think about public funding for the arts?
Why not, they fund everything else .. why not a bit of art ...
Is art necessary?
Is life necessary ? everyday we are presented with art .. look around .. we are all artists, one way or an other, creating as we go along .. we create great works even when we cut the grass ... we create art when we set the table .. we create art when we have children .. it is not a matter of necessity, it is matter of our life.
Does it pain you to let go of a piece you have sold?
YES!- a piece of me leaves ...
Is a work of art purchased, or is it better said, that it is the artist who is bought?
Both .. you are buying the artist though art.
In art, there is no guide. How do you know what the next step is?
I don't know .. I go with the flow.
How do you feel about the fact that the pieces exhibited in contemporary art museums are often of artists already deceased?
Better then never!- no really, why not appreciate it .. I think there is a balance of living work and past works.
What role have the figures of art dealer, gallery owners, representatives, and intermediaries in general played in your career?
A little bit, a few gallery owners have picked up my work for exhibit.
What types of jobs do you usually do?
Usually I am commissioned for portraits, and in my spare time I paint whatever I like. I like variety, and I use different styles and mediums.
Which of your jobs or tasks do you most enjoy?
Simple .. I enjoy painting .. and I enjoy playing with my children.
Do you personally collect any items?
No, not really.
Which websites do you frequently visit?
Other painters sites, I love to see what they paint.
What advice would you give to those just beginning?
Paint what your heart and your head tells ya .. enjoy what you are doing .. and others will see that enjoyment in your works!
