WRITING
What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote?
As a child, I read C.W. Anderson's horse books. I've always been fascinated with horses and had a love for them. So that's why I started writing children's books about horses. I always start writing with prayer. When the publisher looked at my first story, he said I was a natural at writing, and he picked up my work within a week.

Whatever I write, I live it. Many authors find it difficult to change from writing for children to writing for adults, but it natural for me.

When I was widowed, I cried out to the Lord, and He sent me the Holy Spirit, who was my only companion for seven years. He led me to my chaplain husband, James C. Taylor, who understood my love for God and the Holy Spirit.

We shared my experience with the Holy Spirit in our book On the Wings of the Wind.
What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it?
I prefer writing nonfiction. I don't live in a fantasy world.

You can read an excerpt of On the Wings of the Wind as well as thoughts and meditations at http://onthewingsofthewind.com.
What is your creative process like? What happens before sitting down to write?
The first thing I do is have prayer, and the Holy Spirit inspires my writing. I have many ideas that come to me in the night, and I immediately get up and jot them down so I don't lose them. This is all from God. I listen intently to God wherever I'm at, whether I'm walking, driving, or writing.

God gives me peace in this world of chaos. I have no stress and no fear about what's going on today, and I know where this peace comes from.
What do you think are the basic ingredients of a story?
I write the truth, and I live the truth with people that I meet sharing love and compassion to help wherever I can along the way. That's what we need in the world today.
What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person?
I write in first person because I'm sharing my own experiences to bring hope to this nation.
What well known writers do you admire most?
Pastor James Kennedy
Are you equally good at telling stories orally?
Yes, I'm probably better at oral storytelling.
Deep down inside, who do you write for?
The Lord.
Does reader feed-back help you?
I love to hear from readers and will answer any questions to help anyone at any time.
Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?
Yes, my chaplain pastor husband. He is a God-loving person, and the Lord led him to me as the book describes.
What discipline do you impose on yourself regarding schedules, goals, etc.?
I try to share how God can help everyone every day. My goal is to lead as many people as possible to the Lord and the Holy Spirit. Just listen to what I have to say. God's help is free to all.
Do you write on a computer? Do you print frequently? Do you correct on paper? What is your process?
I started years ago on a typewriter and advanced to the computer. I don't print it out; I make corrections on the computer. I re-read the manuscript many times and correct each time.
What has been your experience with publishers?
My first children's book was picked up by a publisher within a week, and he accepted all the children's books I wrote. He has since died, so when I wrote my nonfiction book for adults, I went to a Christian publisher.
What are you working on now?
I'm not currently working on a book because I'm giving lectures and workshops in churches and organizations and there's no time left in a day.
