What is your specialty in illustration?
Children books, children illustrations in educationnal publications.
I love fashion illustratrion and Lifestyle art and try to incorporate those into my style.

Have you completed formal art studies, or are you self-taught?
I studied 2d animation drawing for 3 years in Montreal, Canada.
I completed my studies in the fashion illustration program at FIT in New York.
What past or present day illustrators do you admire most?
Marcos Chin, Peter Emmerich, Hiroshi Tannabe, Ashley Wood, Nathalie Dion, Camilla Rose Garcia, James Jean, Shag...to names only a few.

I like to look up to present day illustrators because it reminds me that it is possible to live out of my art.
How similar are your current drawings to those you did as a child?
They are much better now, i hope. :)

i have always liked to draw the hair, the face and the clothes the best.
As a teenager i wanted to be a fashion designer. The world of fashion is one of my biggest influences and i think it has always been that way.
What was your favorite comic book as a child?
I was and still am a big Tintin fan. I like those french books, "Martine" a lot too.
What is hardest to draw?
hands, animals, and things that don't interest me..
What type of music do you listen to while you work?
It always depends on my mood.
I don't listen to music very often when i work. Most of the time it ruins my concentration.
What do you do when a client simply says "I don't like it"?
I would ask for explanations as of why they dont "like it" and make sure i know what changes to make so that they are pleased with the work after corrections.
What new techniques have you been experimenting with lately?
I did collage for the first time. I did not like it too much.
I also have been learning a lot about graphic design and layout lately.
What part of your work do you do on paper and what part digitally?
I always draw my sketches by hand, on paper. I cannot draw as freely with the wacom tablet.
Sometimes i do all the artwork traditionnaly too. It depends on the look i want.
What research do you do for your illustrations?
I always gather references to draw. I take a bunch of pictures myself.
I also look at fashion magazines to get inspired for the colors and the garments.
Do you have colleagues with whom you share techniques, tricks, ideas, etc.?
A lot of my friends are illustrators, or animators. Of course we talk a lot to each other, sometimes even draw for fun together.
I also call some of them sometimes when i have problems with my computer tricks...
My boyfriend is an illustrator too, and i always ask him for his opinion.
Do you have any specific goals as an illustrator?
To always love what i do.
Make people smile or be touched by my art.

I follow a couple of illustrators' blogs.

i like to follow fashion, art, craft blogs too. inspiration comes from everywhere.
What advice do you have for someone who likes to draw and would like to make a living from it?
Never stop learning.
Draw from real life as often as possible.
