I love fashion illustratrion and Lifestyle art and try to incorporate those into my style. |
 | Is there a web address where we can see some of your work? |
 | Have you completed formal art studies, or are you self-taught? I studied 2d animation drawing for 3 years in Montreal, Canada.
I completed my studies in the fashion illustration program at FIT in New York. |
 | What past or present day illustrators do you admire most? Marcos Chin, Peter Emmerich, Hiroshi Tannabe, Ashley Wood, Nathalie Dion, Camilla Rose Garcia, James Jean, Shag...to names only a few.
I like to look up to present day illustrators because it reminds me that it is possible to live out of my art. |
 | How similar are your current drawings to those you did as a child? They are much better now, i hope. :)
i have always liked to draw the hair, the face and the clothes the best.
As a teenager i wanted to be a fashion designer. The world of fashion is one of my biggest influences and i think it has always been that way. |
 | What was your favorite comic book as a child? I was and still am a big Tintin fan. I like those french books, "Martine" a lot too. |
 | What is hardest to draw? hands, animals, and things that don't interest me.. |
 | What type of music do you listen to while you work? It always depends on my mood.
I don't listen to music very often when i work. Most of the time it ruins my concentration. |
 | What do you do when a client simply says "I don't like it"? I would ask for explanations as of why they dont "like it" and make sure i know what changes to make so that they are pleased with the work after corrections. |
 | What new techniques have you been experimenting with lately? I did collage for the first time. I did not like it too much.
I also have been learning a lot about graphic design and layout lately. |
 | What part of your work do you do on paper and what part digitally? I always draw my sketches by hand, on paper. I cannot draw as freely with the wacom tablet.
Sometimes i do all the artwork traditionnaly too. It depends on the look i want. |
 | What research do you do for your illustrations? I always gather references to draw. I take a bunch of pictures myself.
I also look at fashion magazines to get inspired for the colors and the garments. |
 | Do you have colleagues with whom you share techniques, tricks, ideas, etc.? A lot of my friends are illustrators, or animators. Of course we talk a lot to each other, sometimes even draw for fun together.
I also call some of them sometimes when i have problems with my computer tricks...
My boyfriend is an illustrator too, and i always ask him for his opinion. |
