Interview with:Reginald Wiliams [reggieiscrazy]
BLOGGING
What is your blog address? What subjects do you deal with? I actually have a few. My main blog is deals with my life. I give advice, discuss music, fashion and anything else worth blogging about. I have a team who help and inspire me as well. It is self tittled ("Reggie") and it is at http://www.reggieiscrazy.com. I have a blog where I am writing my second novel, the sequel to 2008's "Circus". It is called "Clowns" and picks up where the first book lefted off, after the wedding. I am taking my sweet time with this book so the blog won't be up until December 2009. The address is at http://www.reggieiscrazy.net. I write for a all male gay blog called "MALE". It deals with all kind of topics. I usually write a advice piece or feature my poetry/erotic stories. That address is at http://masculinegender.blogspot.com. I have started the sister blog and answer to "MALE" with "FEMALE". I have some great females writing for the blog with whatever is liberating and empowering towards all women. The address is at http://theharajukukendoll.blogspot.com. My last blog is a photo blog about me. It is just to empower those who might not look normal. I have blonde hair, light brown eyes, acne, a crooked smile, tattoos and these are my BEST features!!! The blog is to help people get over what is considered "cute" or "sexy" and break any molds. The address is at http://mrtyrabanks.blogspot.com
What was it that made you create your blog? On what date did you start it? Life in general made me started blogging. I had just lost my favorite cousin and another friend. In my eyes, life was dealing me cards that had no match. So I discovered blogging and it helped me through alot of struggles. It made me deal with my jobs, school, the crap that is being played on the radio i.e. music today and my frustrations. I started one, then deleted it because no one was coming to it or so I thought. People were visiting but just not leaving comments. So I revamped it and turn it into a blog to break molds, defeat any standards and create a voice for people without one. And it is one of the things I am very, very proud of.
What blogging system have you adopted and why? The system I have is one I created. Something different to reflect me as I am. I feel people relate more to things that they can feel, see, smell, hear and touch. Things that have meaning. And I keep it nothing but 100% R-E-A-L. I am quick to open up about my past, my relationship, sex, no topic is off limits with me.
How many visits a day do you get? What type of comments do you receive? I get a load of traffic. I am very greatful for my followers and stalkers because it was not always that way. I started off with 0 for almost 3 months. Then, as I didn't become defeated, I pushed through and made lots of blogger friends. My "stans" as I call them. They are regular supporters. And I get ALL kinds of crazy ass comments. And I answer all comments back whether I am at work, on the bus, in a store, doesn't matter! I have email service on my blackberry so I get them all. And answer all.
How has 'having a blog' contributed to your life? It has contributed to my life because it is my life. I tend to blog about life so it is what it is. What you read is reality. I hold nothing back and leave nothing back.
Have you created relationships with other bloggers or readers of your blog? Of course. I have some BBF'S (Blogger Best Friends) and have even some of my blogger friends on speed dial. I would like to thank my team, who are all bloggers and close friends. And all my readers, who I are ether following their blog or know them personally.
How often do you post? Does regular posting of your blog require a lot of effort on your part? I try to post several times on the main traffic days, which are Mondays-Fridays. The weekends are like days off for blogging. I have certain weeks dedicated to different themes and try to include all types of things within content. It's not major effort because it is my life. It is what I want to connect with people and help anyone who needs it.
Does blogging bring in income for you? Can one make a living from posting? No. And that is because I do not want to make any money from blogging unless it is my full time job. If I was doing what Perez Hilton was, yes I would bring in income. But I am not worried about making money off my blog because it is something I want to do. And if one did want to make money from blogging, it is possible but it takes strive and time.
How do you promote your blog? I am on almost every gossip blog leaving comments. Rap-Up, Toya's World, Mediatakeout, C&D, Concrete Loop are some of my favorites. I am on Youtube, Imeem, Myxer, Mixpod and Lulu as well. And I visit LOADS of other blogs on the regular. I follow the limit of 200 blogs and even more in my bookmarks. I have some other secrets I won't share due to "fuckery dealings".
How would you define your readers? Have you got a faithful audience? CRAZY AS HELL! They are just like me, crazy. And that is a GREAT thing. Meaning as I can connect with them about a number of issues. And I have faithful readers whom I love like family. They don't have a life and that keeps me on my job.
Are there any blogs you follow daily or regularly?
How do you see your blog evolving in the future? The same way I evolve. As a person, human, man. I see the blog growing as I grow. As it is a reflection of who I was, who I am and who I yearn to become.
What advice would you give to someone who wishes to begin a blog? The only advice I can give is to start a blog about something you are passionate about. Something that if it was a job and you was working hard and harder each day and NOT getting paid, you wouldn't mind. I have spent countless hours on my blogs and honestly do not mind. I do it for me, not for money. That why I work. But not why I blog. Just blog about something for you and be able to reach people who might need it.
