Interview with:Richard Gordon [rgordon149]
BUSINESS
What business are you in and what is your position? Are you an owner or an executive? I am in real estate sales and marketing. I am an owner of one business and a Director and shareholder of another.
Can you provide a link to a site where we can get to know more about you or your business. www.ukproperty-investments.com and www.davidlloydsignaturehomes.com
What is your story? How did you come to run a business? I always wanted to run my own business. Even when I was young and learning my trade working for someone else I always had ambitions to start up on my own. I am one of those people that is not very good at working for someone else.
A business is based on creating relations of trust with clients, suppliers, employees... How do you create and maintain yours? For me it is simply about honesty and integrity. If you maintain those fundamental standards, people quickly recognize it and they will want to work with you or buy from you because they know they can trust you. Treat people they way you expect to be treated and be prepared to go the extra mile. A bit cliched maybe but true none the less.
What is “selling” for you? What is your technique? What is the greatest lesson you have learned about selling? In my line of business and in my experience, people will only buy if they are 100% satisfied with the information they are provided and if they are satisfied with the way their questions have been answered. You can't 'force' someone to buy a property so why bother trying? Much better to provide everything and more that people need and that way you make their decision to buy an easier one for them.
How does one develop the instinct to detect business opportunities? Experience - there is nothing like experience to help you make the right decisions. Experience comes with hard work. There is a saying: "The harder I work, the luckier I become." So true.
