 | What is your specialty? As of 2008 I been using Adobe Indesign for Professional Graphic Design.
My certifications are from 1996-1997 Saint Petersburg Junior College - Quark Xpress , Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. |
 | Where can we view your portfolio online? Bio, and Graphics and some paintings online www.Ritaferdi.com. Being an artist I cannot make a living from it so I decide to do Graphic Design. There are some of my paintings that are catalog in Copyoffice D.C. |
 | What made you interested in design? I love color and was told in school by my art teacher that I was good and had the eye for it. |
 | What has been your professional career path? Freelance projects and now I am going thru my Mid life crisis I decided to teach Tennis Lessons since I started finding jobs answering phones at local Tennis clubs to make ends meat! I then got certified Thru USNTA Tennis.
My Major Accomplishments in Graphic Design are: Surge Media (352) 683-2659 - Freelance part time Graphic artist using Adobe PageMaker to create Ads and Adobe Go live for Internet update of monthly issues that are published on the website.
Volt - Tampa 1-866-865-8562 - Catalog Design for electronic products using PC Quark Xpress 6.0 . Other skills utilized are Power Point for presentations and mini catalogs for low Voltages transformers (Client: Instrument Transformers)
Spherion (727) 536-2400 Client Compu Link - Updated their New Catalog for 2004 Edition using PC Quark. Reference Allen Goodson Compu link Network Other Assignments include Microsoft Front Page.
Prosun Tanning Industries Inc., Professional Experience Designing comps for the Magazine Advertising , UpdatingTrade show materials.(Graphic Designs where published in Looking Fit and Tanning Trend Magazines) using Quark Xpress, Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and Sony Toast for CD burning.
Publicitas Advertising: Media placement, Ad tracking projects for clients deadlines, Design and copy working in Quark Xpress, Freehand, and Adobe Photoshop also Ad sending along with scanning documents. |
 | Have you received any awards for your work in the field of design? None. I just have letters from when i use to mail out my slides back then. |
 | What is your motivation? What makes you get up in the mornings? I have 18x x 24 oil paintings sitting in a storage box waiting to be in the right place at the right time. I had www.Ritaferdi.com webpage for about 7 years and never receive any inquires when i had the paintings posted. I recently change it just bio. My motivation these days are my clothes don;t fit and i need to work out or go play tennis. So I am happy when some one finds me and emails me for beginner Tennis lessons.
The other motivation is trying to find any and I mean any job where i;ll get a pay check just to survive. After my car accident I think god sent back here to teach Tennis or find a place to hang my paintings!

 | How do you promote and move your work? I don;t its in copyright office in D.c. and slides where mail out years ago. I can only handle so much rejection! |
 | In which new areas would you like to experiment? None I don;t paint any more. Years ago I tried mixing oil and acrylic to dry faster. I only experiment in hitting shots on the tennis court theses days. But lately its not even doing that. I am getting old but look young! |
 | Shapes, color, concept: where do you usually begin when conceiving a design? Lately its just in the form of a square to design advertising for a Newpaper advertising. |
 | What are your sources for documentation and to generate ideas? Documentation is store in Copyright office on my paintings.
Or free space on-line. My generate ideas is brainstorming. |
 | Which festivals or awards in your field do you find most interesting? Something I have social freind that will go but from the rejection i have no interest in them. The most interesting to me was that Andy Warhol design a Cambells soups label and I don;t think they had to be certified in Quark Xpress to design that label! |
 | What is your favourite type of customer? Not a Customer. Its a Client and I thank god that he had send them to me. |
 | To a certain point, is copying justifiable? None. Its justifiable if the company your working owns the rights. |
 | List some things you dislike seeing in design. none. We all be bored. |
 | Do you believe the newer generations are better at designing? I am sure there alot of talent people out there. You have a Doctor, Accountant, and............ |
 | With which type of client would you decline in working for? None, I am housing sitting and Dog sitting sometimes too! |
 | How do you calculate budgets for a design project? I don;t, I sometimes get a Design project from a temporary agency.
Its slow so I freelance with my Tennis certication and its slow too! |
 | Which professionals in your field -contemporary or past- do you most admire? Andy Warhol and working on Catalogs. |
 | Which software applications do you most utilize in your work? Adobe Indesign, Quark Xpress and Photoshop. |
 | Up to what point do your designs reflect your personality? Depends on what kind of project I am working on! |

 | If you weren't a designer, what would you be doing? I just purchase a new set of Golf clubs so i can clear my mind of Rejection! And maybe network with people that appreciate my Talent. |
 | At this moment, what would be your dream job or project? Having my art use to publish a childens books on tennis.
Or doing a catalog. Catalogs take a long time to put together at least I know I be working. |
 | Can you see yourself in this field twenty years from now? Its 20 years from when I copyrighted my work. So, I am here as long as God wants me here. In the future I may have the financial success to live next store to you, be your Doubles partner. But right now I in a world of Stress. And Tennis or Golf is good for stress. |
