Interview with:Janet Collins [royalsequel]
MARKETING
 | Up till now, what has been your professional career path? Its been multi faceted as I have owned several different businesses in the past 20 years. My latest passions are in the internet marketing arena as we face a new global market of opportunities like never before.... social media is changing the way people expose their businesses. It is less expensive and more effective than just a few years ago! I own four on line businesses but amazingly enough?... still love to decorate and am good at it!! |
 | Please list web addresses where one can see something about you. Everything is named after my great horse, Royal Sequel. Just go to my web site which is www.royalsequelenterprises.com

See you there! |
 | What is your stance as a marketing professional? What are you good at? What differentiates you from others? First of all and foremost... I meet people where they are at. If we don't understand their past and present it is not possible to navigate further into their future... their destiny. What differentiates me from others is that I will always get back to ... what do they wish to accomplish? Eventually we start to understand their life's purpose... not just profit... and all good ideas stem from there! It is not unlike decorating at all!! |
 | A marketing strategy begins with an idea. How are yours born? I am always inspired and led by other people... their ideas... seeing their gifts and talents. Too often people focus on their own ideas... but I have learned...
1. Ideas are spiritual
1. Ideas are collective
Through these actions, yes... actions... all things become crystal clear leading to successful results! |
 | In which market, products or services, are you currently working? I steer away from cold, financial type of products/services. They are no fun... so I would say my portfolio consists of decor, food... design and colorful social media to name a few. One may as well enjoy what they do in life... the money will follow if you follow your passions! |
 | Did this product exist ten years ago? And the brand? Great question! The answer is NO!! and isn't that wonderful!! So much in the past no longer exists... we can no longer count on... so check out cutting edge opportunities at www.royalsequelenterprises.com
Great question! |
 | What is the consumer or user like that you have to win over? I used to say the Baby Boomers but they have been the target market for fifteen years now...
been there, done that, seen that, won that, lost that.... and too closed minded in the past right now.
It is their children and grandchildren I wish to win over... to teach them well from our mistakes. Live a cash only lifestyle, stay out of debt... spirituality, not things matter... and health and wealth is still a reality for them in a new economy. By the way... would one of you please show me how to text? lol
There are more resources there now if not as much money yet. Teach them well... they are destined to be an amazing generation I wish to be part of now. |
 | What is the key to gaining consumer fidelity? None. There is no loyalty in the market place anymore and a great deal of distrust. I can only suggest working harder with products consumers are already using and depend on... and do it better than the next guy or gal. |
 | How do you determine what consumers think and feel? Is something more than qualitative research necessary? How consumers think and feel is entirely driven by their own pocketbooks at the end of the day. You don't change that... you work with it. For example these days people have a hard time getting loans. To that end suggestions such as live within your means are things that become an educational type of marketing with services that surround that. Just one example... but it makes the point that marketing is driven by demand based on circumstances usually always out of control. Come up with the answer to that to make people feel more in control of their lives these days... and there should be something they will purchase from your company. |
 | What type of communication are you utilizing? Social media including auto responders, web sites, social media as well as one on one contact. |
 | Who/what is your competition? Everyone and no one. There is only one Janet Collins... I can assure you of that! lol
Which is why I have created my own company rather than trying to fit in...
Royal Sequel Enterprises |
 | What differentiates your product/service from the competition? Everything as I am very, very picky. They have to have GREAT customer service. Their marketing and logos... need to have GREAT taste... and they have to be unique in order to be part of Royal Sequel Enterprises. That is usually reflected in the business owner's approach... if they don't have a passion for what they do neither will I and they won't make it into my e magazine of networking globally. I only work with the best! |
 | How do you value the results obtained up to now? I am honored and blessed by the consistent results I experience in all of my marketing for my colleagues and affiliates. One special example can be read about at
www.mylifemaxmila.blogspot.com My business partner in the Philippines alone is a huge personal reward for me! |
 | What is a better way to communicate your product: emotional or rational? Emotionally... as that is where the results are. If I were into financial products only it wouldn't measure any other way but rational. This took me years to understand! |
 | What's your answer to the typical question: does marketing create nonexistent needs? Never. A market has to exist in order for it to be noticed and developed into further opportunities. Before our banking crisis for example... who would have been running around marketing foreclosure or short sale opportunities? Very few.
Creating a market... unless it is a new mousetrap... is very hard. Its kind of like what came first, the chicken or the egg? People usually only notice the chicken! |
 | In times of crisis sales of generic store brands rise. What should premium brands do or not do when faced with this? Remain premium... they are not their client anyway. If everything was about generic brands the premium labels wouldn't be in business to start with. If, however a competitor matches step for step everything they have then they need to rethink where their place in the market should be. From there they need to change the product... but not the price or they are admitting defeat. |
 | Can you cite brands or well-known products that you admire for marketing brilliance? Yes... Budweiser and their amazing Clysedales. Their consistant committment to be true to their message. McDonalds... keeping an open mind but not throwing out their core mission to consistent quality...
Consistency breeds success! |
 | The consumer is king: have advertisers realised this yet? Only if they are smart. |
 | Are we heading towards more individualised marketing and advertising? Without question... due to the internet personalizing and elevating the client's uniqueness that has not bee heard from on an individual basis until recently. |
 | What percentage of your marketing budget is invested in digital advertising and why? None. No reason to with the internet. |
 | What is the most surprising thing you have learned about digital marketing in the last few years? Only that the software programs run too slow. |
 | A few years ago, it was said that online sales would end up killing traditional store sales, but that has not been the case: how can you explain this? People still love to see, feel... touch and smell. Shopping is an experience in itself... so it just boosts retail sales the same way videos boosted movies...! |
 | How do you evaluate the potential of social networks for marketing on-line? Do you really think there is a new 2.0 marketing paradigm? Without question. It is the new television. |
 | What industry or market segment do you find attractive for devoting yourself to in the coming years? Social media, search engine optimization and e commerce. www.royalsequel.com |
 | Be a prophet. What phenomenon will revolutionize marketing in the next few years? That is easy... it will be virtual, interactive internet exchanges including 3D and video/audio. Beam me up Scottie! |
 | Are you part of any professional networking sites? Has it served its purpose for you? I am and it has. www.royalsequelenterprises.com feature HelloHello which is like a Facebook which has just launched out of Denmark.
I am also on every social site available and can send a message to all of them with a touch of a button. The networking opportunities have amazed me with thousands of new contacts I never would have had otherwise! |
 | How do you do your own personal branding? What do you recommend other professionals do to position themselves in the job market? It really depends on what one wants to accomplish. I brand myself the same...
Royal Sequel is the company name as well as the e mail address. Everything should match so that you become the brand....
its just like coordinating an outfit!
