What type of psychological, physical, and emotional preparation do you do before a performance? It depends on the project. I have used different methods including improvisation, Stanislavski techniques and research. More recently I have been getting more screen parts and have been using a method called the Headstrong approach which has been developed by Michael Ferguson at the Actors Centre in London. It aims at developing a very spontaneous and artistic performance.
What is your criteria in determining which projects you select? A very important factor for me is if the project is going to further my development as an actress. Also simply if I like the work of the company/director.
What do you do to kill time during waiting periods at casting calls? I do classes, also I write and perform my own projects and do drawings and make my own films.
Are you continuing to educate yourself through acting classes, seminars, or other courses? Do you combine this with your normal job? Yes, it's very important for me to keep training and learning new skills.
Which director would you like to read this interview? What type of role would you like for him/her to offer you? I admire Terrence Malick's work. I would like to play a significant role in one of his films.
One personal reason why to keep doing this work I enjoy it and feel uplifted by it.
How do you feel when people recognise you on the street? I have been recognised a few times as I was in the film Hackers with Angelina Jolie. Also my voice was in a TV advert and some people recognised my voice. It is a very nice feeling when that happens.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in acting? Keep a light heart, be positive and keep working on yourself and the craft of acting.
