ART
What do you do? How do you define yourself as an artist?
I am a professional painter. Work with mainly Oil, Acrylic medium. The subject rome on History, Mythology, Psychoanalysis, Philosophy of life, chaos and equilibrium.
What is your message?
The “message” cover huge spectrum like sociological aspects, Historical awareness, War, and most of all inspiring of thought. Last but not list when I paint consciously , may not think about the message all the time but its always there in subconscious.
Your biography in four lines.
DOB 26 th December 1983. Did my master with Science but it helps me understanding the pattern formed or unformed seen or unseen signals of neuronal network.
Do you upload your work to the web? If so, where could we see it?
My work/ thought can bee seen in following link http://www.neokala.com/displayartistgallery.jsp http://neokala.wordpress.com/ http://www.myartprofile.com/sanju_biochem Or you can search google by Sajidul Islam ( Surrealist)
How is an idea born? For you, what is inspiration?
Idea comes from History, Mythology, Genesis of universe especially wonder of creation, nature, psychology, and of course human being.
What role does technology play in your creative process?
Technology plays very minor role in my painting rather one can say its the experiment what i do with color, form, texture, base with scientific knowledge about the matter (color .. interaction with medium.. oil.. water.. variety of solvents) what i gather in my bachelor and master in university.
What is art?
may be way of leaving.....
When do you get your best ideas?
when i get confuse it means some idea is there... and it happens when i stay alone.
How do you evaluate whether an idea is good or not?
I don’t segregate ideas... it comes and i go for it.. finally viewer says...
Three creative ideas that you would have liked to have created?
Difficult to say… I would like to create all paintings in Vatican city through my whole life.
When and how did you begin to see yourself as an artist?
Since childhood its within me, and choice was mine... but i choose science. and took art as my passion. since my last year in university i felt huge urge for being a painter rather than being a scientist.
Why do so many artists and creators have such volatile personalities?
Its because of, may be there is less flow of consuming of art by buyer, publishers collectors and galleries. and secondly lack of creative ideas … which fails to touch universal cord.
Do you consider yourself postmodern?
I do...
How should a work of art be evaluated?
The very post modern concept is .. viewers.. they watch independently ... interpret by there own way .. as it comes to them... my suggestion is not judge the work by fully technically but go with the message.. content... significance and something unknown factor ( I don’t know what that “X” factor)... and finally if you say “wow”... then its done.
Must an artist reinvent him/herself everyday?
Is it ...! well... i don’t think so ... its not very organized corporate like system ...
Which artists do you admire and how do they influence your work?
Hard to say ... there are lots of... all masters during Renaissance... some surrealist including Salvador Dali. some impressionist including claude Monet, E Manet, Renoir, Vincent Van Gough. and the last but not list ... the unknown painters in stone age.. painted on cave wall.
What do you think about public funding for the arts?
It should not be funding, but to raise the flow of consumer.
Is art necessary?
If art can bring food in home....
Does it pain you to let go of a piece you have sold?
what i earn.. is painful but what i create i never feel pain let it going ..
Is a work of art purchased, or is it better said, that it is the artist who is bought?
Makes not much difference saying it ... literally nobody can buy a artist but his/her art.
In art, there is no guide. How do you know what the next step is?
That’s why there is variation because there is no grammar ... the next step comes from the input signals ... which is compound and correlative in nature... it does not ( or does) comes in quantum but very continuous manner depend on the acquired /or instinct knowledge you gathered.
How do you feel about the fact that the pieces exhibited in contemporary art museums are often of artists already deceased?
well... that whoud not be...
What role have the figures of art dealer, gallery owners, representatives, and intermediaries in general played in your career?
Not yet... what i did, organizing my own exhibition without any enhancement of gallery owner, publishers , art dealer ... this is may be because of lack of proper channel.
What types of jobs do you usually do?
Its all about technical and mannagement job doing in some petrochemical and steel industries...no relation with paintings. BOOO
Which of your jobs or tasks do you most enjoy?
Painting... fulltime...
