PHOTOGRAPHY
 | Do you have an online gallery where one can view your photos? http://www.visualinspirationstudios.com

 | For how long have you done photography? How did you begin? 5 years |
 | What has been your education as a photographer? Self trained |
 | Please list any exhibitions in which you have participated. Art Tour 2011 in Jackson Michigan |
 | What is your favourite type of photography? Landscape and Wildlife |
 | What do you try to express through your photography? I try and evoke ANY kind of emotional response. |
 | How do you choose your subjects? I don't. They kind of find me while I am traveling. |
 | What type of preparation do you do before undertaking the photo session? I just pack my gear and head out the door. I let what is going to happen, happen. |
 | Do you normally photograph with a purpose already in mind, or do you let yourself go with the flow? Both. I have something in mind when I head out, but often times things evolve and I follow where they go. |
 | Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sigma, Olympus, Sony, Pentax...which do you place your bets on and why? I don't play that gear game. But to answer the question I'd say that One of the "big two" based purely on volume of sales. So either Canon or Nikon in the dSLR market.
In the emerging mirrorless market I think Olympus is a ground breaking company and would like to see them in the lead. |
 | Describe your current equipment: cameras, lenses, computers, accessories... Olympus dSLR's (E-520, and 2 E-3's)
Olympus lenses: 50mm f/2 macro, 50-200 f/2.8, 12-60SWD f/2.8
Tons of accessories (cable releases, timers, bags, flashes, studio lighting, old manual lenses from Minolta and Voigtlander). |
 | What software and plug-ins do you use to retouch and manage your photos? Lightroom |
 | What measures do you take to protect your work against Internet piracy? Very little. |
 | Are you a good salesperson of your work? In what should you improve? Thus far I have been more focused on portfolio building and not sales. Once I have a solid portfolio I will begin marketing myself. |
 | Which past masters of photography do you most admire? I don't do that. I really don't study the works of others. |
 | Are technology and digital retouching reducing the gap between professionals and amateurs? I'm sure it is to some degree. You now need to be good at BOTH the capturing of the image and the editing of it afterwards. |
 | What is your team of habitual collaborators like? does not apply to me yet. |
 | With which other photographers do you normally team up with or do sessions with? I do not work or collaborate with anyone else at this time. |
 | Do you consider yourself more technical or more artistic? More artistic. Go look at my work. |
 | What have you learned about the art of framing and composition? I have learned that rules help (rule of thirds, golden ratio etc..) but sometime breaking them is more effective. |
 | How does one develop the instinct of knowing when to press the shutter release button? Good question. |
 | When should one use film, and when should one use digital? Have NEVER ran a roll of film through a camera....EVER. |
 | Does photography have the recognition that it should have in contemporary art museums? I doubt it. |
 | Which websites for photographers do you frequently visit? http://www.flickr.com
http://www.500px.com
http://www.digital-photography-school.com/ |
 | Is there any particular technique that you could share? Keep shooting until you are more worried about what the light is doing than what settings you need to have your camera on. I don't know. I'm not some guru. LOL |
