WRITING
What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote?
I liked to read true stories by any author. I wrote my feelings down in poetry form. My close friends were the only ones to read my work.
What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it?
I prefer motivating and inspirational works by Christian authors. http://lighthousetells.blogspot.com
What is your creative process like? What happens before sitting down to write?
Step 1...The Holy Spirit drops in my spirit the topic to be written about. I sometimes wake up to a riddle, a child's story or even a song that I have not heard or read in many years. Step 2...I then ask The Lord WHICH story does he want me to write? He then recalls the details and I start typing. Step 3...Then I am led to scripture that confirms WHAT I am writing about. I am totally excited wriiting my story post this way. Each story is named, and written by The Holy Spirit. I pray before I ever start my story..".Lord have it your way.." and He does. The results are always rewarding.
What type of reading inspires you to write?
I am led to write by The Holy Spirit at any given time..God's perfect timing. I have been brought through many trials of life. My life is full of survival stories. By faith I have walked and depended on God to help me since I was 5 years old..I am stronger today because of those victories in Christ...I am just writing them down to share and motivate others hopefully.
What do you think are the basic ingredients of a story?
The truth will set us all free. A story of truth will minister and reach more hearts and lives. Been there, done that, and I am here to share a happy ending. "With God, all things are possible."
What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person?
First person. You are involved and the picture is painted very clear for you.
What well known writers do you admire most?
Billy Graham Joyce Meyers
What is required for a character to be believable? How do you create yours?
I am the character telling you about my true inspirational adventures with The Lord. Each story describes a different topic to be read in 5-10 minute stories. That is why I also have a blog to feature them. http://lighthousetells.blogspot.com
Are you equally good at telling stories orally?
I am from a family tree of story tellers and writers.. Yes would definitely be the answer. I would give more detail in telling, than I do in blogging..Literally, I have to remind myself to "Make a long story short".
Deep down inside, who do you write for?
To glorify The Lord..by sharing my true stories and hopefully those of others who choose to respond to my blog.
Is writing a form of personal therapy? Are internal conflicts a creative force?
I have been healed of any personal conflicts. That is what my stories are about mostly..the Great Physcian..God bringing me through all of those trials with VICTORY...
Does reader feed-back help you?
That would be wonderful, but not necessary. I would want to believe that one of my stories would have made a DIFFERENCE for that person on that given day...My goal is to inspire, motivate and encourage others to keep on keeping on. There is a way maker out of all bad situations..."With God, all things are possible Would love for others to share their survival stories on my blog also.
Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?
The answer is no. Really have no plans to go in that direction.
Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?
I used to, but don't anymore. I learned a long time ago, that what The Lord places in my heart is WHAT matters. I used to seek a friend's approval. Now I just write as The Holy Spirit leads and directs me.
Do you believe you have already found "your voice" or is that something one is always searching for?
I only listen to ONE VOICE and that is God's...and His Holy Spirit...I don't pay attention to the other one...not of God.
What discipline do you impose on yourself regarding schedules, goals, etc.?
No schedules are followed. I would love to post weekly, but sometimes it doesn't work out. I am led, not driven...and it is usally God's timing..because it all falls into place. I don't have to struggle to make the story come together. I love the uniques titles that The Lord gives me for my stories also. Sometimes I get the title BEFORE I even know which story I am going to write. That is really interesting.
What do you surround yourself with in your work area in order to help your concentrate?
I usually have my dictionary, bible and jotted down scripture notes next to me. After a moment of prayer, I start to write..I start typing, edit, then post to blog, and then edit again...
Do you write on a computer? Do you print frequently? Do you correct on paper? What is your process?
I write on computer. I used to write on paper and then type it onto the computer. It varies at times. Usually I write on the computer. There are times when I have ACCIDENTLY erased my story and had to start over. When that happens, I usually end up writing a totally different story...That is when I learned to ask Him WHAT He wants me to write...lol..I learned my lesson...His Way, not mine...
What sites do you frequent on-line to share experiences or information?
Facebook is used to announce my new story post and the attached link where to find it. I am now hoping that the www.whohub.com will open up more networking contact opportunities to share my blog. http://lighthousetells.blogspot.com
What has been your experience with publishers?
I have published with a book with a publisher. It was good. No complaints..Just a long procedure to go through so many publishing and expensive steps. They did a good job leading me..toward the end results. I have no plans or desire to write another book at this time. It was my true story of child abuse...I am a survivor because I am a BELIEVER...
What are you working on now?
The next story to be posted will be "Pool of Reflection" An adventure that The Lord took me on in the Arkansas.
What do you recommend I do with all those things I wrote years ago but have never been able to bring myself to show anyone?
I have nothing to hide...anymore.... I am literally an OPEN BOOK for all to read...It is all about what The Lord has done and is doing for me...check the blog http://lighthousetells.blogspot.com
