Soraya Garcia [sorax]
What do you do? What is your musical specialty?
I program, remix and compose music in a Production/Dj-Team with my sister Julia.
Is there a web address where one can listen, see, or read some of your work?
When did you realise that making music could be a way of life for you?
Basically at the time that I realized that the "normal" world was not enough for me, an that music had always been a way to escape.
When do you have your most lucid moments, in the morning or night?
Hmmm...when I'm super-relaxed...maybe under the shower in the morning (whatever morning may mean to me, haha) or upon awakening in general...
Have you ever awoken with a melody created from your dreams?
Oh yes, that happens pretty frequently, to be honest...same goes for lyrics.
Which musicians or groups have been inspiring to your career?
There are so many, I can't list them all! I've just always loved artists that weren't afraid to be themselves (and that make damn good music, too).
What type of music do you detest?
I don't really detest any of it cause I know how hard it is to make music and to stay making music! Dissing other artists is so damn low. Each to their own. If I had to decide though, I'm really not into wishy-washy love songs and ballads, or tracks that your drunken neighbour could sing along to in stage 4 of his intoxication (such as the Macarena Song hahaha).
Who would you play with, without a doubt?
Lupe Fiasco, Mark Ronson, Simon Le Bon
What advice would you give to someone starting out in the business?
Sell yourself but don't sell out (meaning don't sell your soul...)
Is your 'book' online? Can you provide a link to it?
Yes, here we go: http://models.direct2pro.com/~model_9358
Do you pose nude? Yes, no, it depends?
I don't think it is bad thing, but I think we all know what a girl looks like by now...so I don't feel like joining the nudists' club haha.
Would you like to work behind the camera? Have you ever tried?
Haha I think I shouldn't! I can't even take a decent pic of my cats!
Do you see the profession as a springboard to something else, or something lasting?
No. First and foremost, I'm a musician. I take this job for what it is.
When you see the result, is it usually as you imagined?
It mostly isn't, but that is what makes it more exciting.
What do you think of anorexia? Do you think the fashion industry is responsible for this epidemic in some way?
Yes, to a certain degree. They create this world where everybody has to look a certain way, and the media constantly puts pressure on young girls and women and nowadays guys too, which I think is really sad. I guess Anorexia is not directly caused by campaigns or catwalk models, but unfortunately it can be a catalyst for eating disorders to those who are vulnerable.
Name three male and female models whose work you admire.
Not soo easy...hmm...I love the pics of the late Gia Carrangi, Paulina Porizkova and Kate Moss..as for guys...Werner Schreyer (he used to do "Boss"), and umm...I think I like musicians far more, sorry, haha!
What magazine do you dream of appearing on the cover of?
No certain magazine really...right now I am aiming to do more work that is directly linked to protecting animals and the environment in general, such as Peta and the Body Shop, for example.
How do you stay in shape, physically and mentally?
I have lots of adrenaline going so I work out at least 5x a week...I'm trying to get into yoga but I haven't been consistent with it so far. I love swimming. I'm also a big fan of sleeping a lot when possible and I aim to do a few minutes of meditation everyday.
Do you have a special diet of some kind?
Well. I'm a vegan for ethical reasons and because I feel much cleaner not eating animal foods...apart from that..not really. Life is too short.
