Interview with:

Hussein Abdul Hamid [steadyaku47]

What is your blog address? What subjects do you deal with?
steadyaku47 at http://steadyaku-steadyaku-husseinhamid.blogspot.com/ Life in general with a distinct focus on current affairs in Malaysia as seen from my perspective.
What was it that made you create your blog? On what date did you start it?
I started January 2009. I had thoughts in my head that I wanted to put out out there in cyberspace to share with others.
What blogging system have you adopted and why?
Wordpress. No reason . This was the one available to me at that point of time and my technical knowledge of blogging at that point of time was zero., It is still a work in process and Wordpress has so far serve my needs.
How many visits a day do you get? What type of comments do you receive?
It varies: Average daily page load 4000. Comments are mainly supportive on the issues that I write about. There are readers that have forwarded me comments and articles which I find worth sharing - and have posted them on this blog.
How has 'having a blog' contributed to your life?
I do work steadyaku47 full time. Very satisfying on a personal level and gives me reason to wake up with vigor and enthusiasm every morning.
Have you created relationships with other bloggers or readers of your blog?
This is being done on an ongoing basis and I seek to improve on this in order to stay relevant in the things that I write about.
How often do you post? Does regular posting of your blog require a lot of effort on your part?
I post on a daily basis.
Does blogging bring in income for you? Can one make a living from posting?
As of October (this month) I have started to look at the financial aspects of blogging with the intention of making it my source of income. I expect to be able to make a decent living within a reasonable period of time - say by the end of this year.
How do you promote your blog?
I do not promote my blog. I presume 'word of mouth' pushes the blog along.
How would you define your readers? Have you got a faithful audience?
The people that read what I write are, in the majority, looking for a change of the status quo in terms of how things are being done in Malaysia. The corruption, the deceit and the greed of the current Barisan Nasional Government has cause many to turn to other alternatives to take their place - with a view of voting to make that change happen in the next General Election. There are a minimum page loads of about 2000 daily - and these I presume would be my regulars.
Are there any blogs you follow daily or regularly?
How do you see your blog evolving in the future?
To be relevant, steadyaku47 would have to evolve into a "news letter/ news paper" format with a focus on life style.
What advice would you give to someone who wishes to begin a blog?
Learn the technical aspects of blogging and decide if you are doing it as own ego trip (where you do not have to worry about page loads or readers coming onto your site) - or if you want to be relevant (as I do) then work on building the critical mass of readers needed to make what you have to say, and the time spent writing them - worthwhile. This will take time, effort and focus.
