Interview with:Terri Giosia [teraluna]
PROFESSION
 | What is your profession? What is your title printed on your business card? I am a motivational speaker, business/wellness coach and writer. |
 | Are you satisfied with the education that you received? Education is ongoing. I am a student of human behavior, hence every day I learn something....and if I could go back, I would not change a thing.
Life has been my biggest school, and am working on my PhD in life and living. |
 | Which languages do you speak, and how have you learned them? English, French and Italian.
Italian was learned as a child, English the language we spoke at home, French I learned as a teen babysitting. |
 | How do you feel about speaking in front of an audience? What experience have you had in this arena? This is my forte! I love being in front of an audience, I thrive on the energy I get from the participants.
I have over 20 years of public speaking, and every seminar or lecture I give is like the first time...new, exciting and energizing! |
 | When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up? An actress, social worker, or a teacher. |
 | Your Bible? Don't judge until you've walked in another's shoes. |
WRITING
 | What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote? It was probably a fairy tale book. I began writing in the 1st grade, I still have the first thing I ever wrote in school, and it was "What is a Mother?"
She was also the first person to ever read what I wrote.
Writing has been, and always will be my first love. |
 | What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it? www.terrigiosia.com
You can read a variety of articles that I have on several sites, the links are all on my website. |
 | What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person? I enjoy writing in the first person, it's more personal and allows for the reader to have a glimpse of who one is. |
 | Deep down inside, who do you write for? Deep down, I write for myself. From there, I hope my words end up making a difference, inspiring others, empowering them and makes them think. |
 | What are you working on now? I am working on a variety of short stories and a children's book. |
ENTREPRENEUR
 | What do you do to maintain morale and continue persevering in low times? Belief in myself and achieving the goals I've set forth.
A positive attitude, knowing that I alone define who I am, what I do and how I live. |
HEALTH
 | What is your opinion on the use of medical marijuana for terminal illnesses. If it helps in easing the pain or nausea, have a toke! |
 | What are the most frequent errors of slimming diets. That there is a magic pill, so many spend money on a pill or procedure, fads and trends come and go.
There is nothing magical about it....change how you eat, exercise, discipline and motivation.
Stick with it, every day is another day, and knowing it's about lifestyle changes, not dieting....the word DIET has the word "die" in it... |
PSYCHOLOGY
 | Why is it so difficult for us to forgive ourselves? Because of guilt. |
HARMONY
 | What is happiness, and the main obstacle to reaching it? Happiness is a sensation that one feels whereby one is content with the "now" and the main obstacle in reaching it are the blocks that we ourselves put up. Do we deserve it, can we attain it, is there more.....are some of the ongoing questions we ask...and in reality many times it's simply right inside us. |
 | Is it necessary to have a teacher to find the way? A teacher is anyone who provides guidance. It can be one's mother, friend, a coach, therapist.... an article or book one reads.....be open...... when the student is ready, the teacher will come. |
 | Do you believe in the law of attraction: that we attract what we think about? I believe that one does attract what one sends out there; however, one can have all the best thoughts, energies, ideas, surroundings and at times one will attract something negative into their life. When this occurs, one must realize that it is the obstacles/adversity that come into our life and how we react to them, learn from them....and grow that is important. |
EDUCATION
 | What subjects do you teach? What types of students do you have? I teach English as a 2nd language to adults on a corporate level. |
 | What is your educational philosophy? Teach as you wish to be taught.
Everyone learns at a different pace. |
 | What do you think schools will be like in 20 years? Probably home based; online, or with a chip you can buy and place in your body with all the knowledge of the ages. |
COACH
 | What types of coaching do you do? Who are your clients? My clients are those that wish to improve their lives, attain goals, achieve what they desire to live their life authentically. Although they come for a variety of reasons, we end up working on the most important thing first...self esteem. |
 | Can you provide a link to a site where we can get to know more about you, the type of work you do and/or the place where you do it? www.terrigiosia.com |
 | Do you have innate qualities, or is it something that you learned? You live it, learn it and I have the desire to share it. |
 | What motivates someone to work more efficiently? Desire, and effort. |
 | How does one learn to listen? Stop talking!!!!! |
 | How do you define the concept commitment? What importance does it have in the development of a person? If you're not committed, you won't achieve the results. Putting in the effort, having the desire, believing in yourself.....that is what we need to develop into who we're meant to be. |
 | Is it necessary at times to reorient a person’s desires and expectations? Yes, for many live in an illusion of what other's hoped they'd be.
Living for the audience....isn't living one's authentic self, hence truly digging deep within oneself and asking " do I think this way, or did someone put that idea there?"
There are a myriad of questions to truly see if one's desires and expections are their own...or someone elses. |
 | Can an excess of self-esteem be the worst obstacle? Arrogance is an obstacle, ignorance, pettiness, jealousy...greed...not self esteem. |
PERSONALITY
 | Something in which you are completely incompetent. I wouldn't be able to charge my tire! Cars are to drive not fix, that's why we go to a mecanic. |
 | Of what are you an addict? Coffee and cigarettes.
Laughter is another, and being around positive energies. |
 | What was your first vehicle? HONDA ACCORD, 1987 |
 | Your New Year resolutions. I don't believe in them.
Making reflections is more important.
Resolutions tend to put alot of stress and anxiety on people, vs looking inward and making changes and allowing one to live a more authentic life is key to one's well being. |
 | A word or expression that you love. Carpe Diem!
Nothing ventured, nothing gained! |
IDEAS
 | Did God create the world in seven days, or do you believe in the theory of evolution? Evolution |
 | Do you believe many illnesses can be caused by the mind? Without a doubt!!! Mind over matter....the power of our mind goes beyond anything anyone can comprehend. |
 | Does brand name influence your buying habits? Not one bit!
I think people put too much into labels, and get into debt because they "need" those $300 jeans or trendy top that will put them back 2 months in rent!
It's about feeling good in the clothes, not the label on your ass! |
 | Do you think tipping is a good custom? Yes, I do.
Many jobs don't pay what they should, hence if you've had good service it's a way of showing appreciation. |
CULTURE
 | Do you believe there is excessive sex and violence in the media? I think it's excessive if you think it is.
I believe that parents should monitor what their kids watch.
If they think it's excessive, don't allow them to watch.
As adults, we choose what we watch, enjoy, learn from and escape into for a few hours. |

POLITICS
 | Are you pro-choice or pro-life? Pro-choice.
A woman has the right to decide whether she wishes to bring a baby into the world or not... |
 | Should homosexual couples have the same right to adopt as heterosexual couples? A loving couple, is a loving couple. So whether you're gay or straight makes no difference. There are so many children that need a loving and nurturing home, a home is based on love and respect of the 2 adults living there. |
PHILOSOPHY
 | For you, what is "the good life"? The good life; is living your life authentically. |
 | What is the secret to happiness? The secret to happiness is doing what you're passionte about, live authentically, be yourself, having a positive attitude and to laugh alot! |

 | Please list three important words for the world today. Education, understanding, compassion |
 | What is the best attitude to have for experiencing life and not missing out on its intensity? Go with your gut; it never lies! |
