Interview with:

Jamison Williams [vantagebulletin]

MUSIC
What do you do? What is your musical specialty?
Saxophone deconstruction, experimentation, and generally, going the fuck off, while trying to pay attention to other things happening at the same time; basically, interacting musically in the middle of a sonic hurricane. I also run Vantage Bulletin, and (POP) nouveau: selective release union.
Do you work alone or in a group? If in a group, who are the others you work with?
Solo, groups, TRAPBOMB, whatever happens to it the bill at that particular moment or whatever I am booked for; solo lets me say whatever I want, under circumstances without restriction, groups force me to shut the fuck up a little, so that others can also say what they want, TRAPBOMB is just sick, sick as fuck, you never know what the fuck is going to happen with that. TRAPBOMB is a fucking ten man musical massacre. Is there a web address where one can listen, see, or read some of your work?

How did you begin making music? Who introduced you?
Elementary school is when I officially got introduced, high school band followed, college next with general personal alto saxophone instruction by Matt fucking Vance and Lew Moore; I was taught extended techniques by studying Jean-Marie Londeix's 'Hello, Mr. Sax', and L'art du saxophon (Daniel Kientzy) with direct supervision by Matt Vance: sick fucks, hard asses, and staunch disciplinarians. Fucking love it.
When did you realise that making music could be a way of life for you?
What the fuck else is there to do? Paint? Dance? Sing? I play a horn, and work for the people working for me. Good times.
What is your creative process?
I am an improviser, and to summarize my creative process in as little words as possible, I would have to say it's war, and I bring a machine gun: it's a simple weapon with a particular purpose, to kill. Sometimes, I also feel like Rodney Mullen, or Frank Lloyd Wright.
When do you have your most lucid moments, in the morning or night?
Whatever time of day I have a six pack of Panax (http://www.larkin-us.com/pb/wp_80c817df/images/img208454448669435852.jpg), triple espresso, a decent Turkish, cortadito, or colada; sometimes it only takes a San Pellegrino.
Have you ever awoken with a melody created from your dreams?
Does Nancy Pelosi have great GILF tits?
How do you know when a song is finished or needs no more changes?
With TRAPBOMB it's the drop of the finger.
