Interview with:

Beaux Flamiano [xnv3q]

ADVERTISING
What is your specialty: creativity, contact, or research?
Creativity. I would like to believe that i'm pretty good making TV commercials. But my craft is print ads, which i try to constantly improve on.
Please list some brand names or clients that you have worked for.
I am fortunate enough to have worked on some pretty heavy brands like Globe, BPI, Unilab, Nestle, Coke Zero, and SM to name just a few.
Have you got a blog or web page?
Yes i do have a blog, along with a few other sites you can find me on the web. My blog is www.xnv3q.blogspot.com, you can also check out my youtube channel on www.youtube.com/xnv3q, or see my advertising print work at www.coroflot.com/xnv3q, lastly you can see some of my graphic work at www.beaux-artworx.deviantart.com
What do your clients value more, strategy, creativity, design, or return of investment?
All of those the client values, it's just mixing them in the right proportions according to the needs of the project. But each and everyone of those things are very important.
What brings you the most satisfaction: when your advert pleases your boss, your client, your friends, or your mother?
When i please people i don't know. I had an experience while riding a bus, one of my commercials aired, and as it was playing the people sitting in front of me starting giggling and discussing the spot. It was a proud moment. People that we have a relationship with like a co-worker, friend or family tend to have a biased opinion may it be good or bad, but when people you don't know react they tend to be honest.
Are people in advertising paid too much?
NO! People think it's easy work, but it is not. Its hard, tiring and a very stressful career. That is why we should be properly compensated.
What is your favourite thing about working in advertising and what is your least favourite?
The creativity involved in the whole process of making ads is an amazing experience. Not to mention all the cool places you'll see, the talented people you'll meet, all the delicious food you'll taste, and the wonderful adventures you'll face - those are the best things about advertising. My least favorite is the there is so little time with so much to do.
Does the public buy the product or the product image?
Both.
What are the main mistakes clients make in judging creativity?
Being narrow-minded i think is the biggest mistake clients make when judging creativity. It just kills curiosity, exploration and experimentation.
Is it possible for someone in advertising to communicate well with people of other generations or cultures not their own?
Yes. It would be challenging, but it is not impossible. After all, the world is getting smaller and smaller everyday.
What advice would give to someone who wants to join the ranks of advertising?
Live a good life, creativity comes from a well lived and balanced life.
