ART
What do you do? How do you define yourself as an artist?
I do acrylic painting. I create unique designs on furniture, rugs, boxes, and canvas. I also do art journaling and pencil drawings.
What is your message?
Hmmmm, I guess it is to have fun. Seems that most everything is so serious these days. Creativity breeds fun, unless you get into perfectionism. I would hope that everyone would seek the fun in everything they do.
Your biography in four lines.
Came into the world full of wonder and curiosity. Spent most of adult life being criticized for it. Decided to embrace it. Now I rock it.
Do you upload your work to the web? If so, where could we see it?
http://creativeclown.com
How is an idea born? For you, what is inspiration?
There is not a single answer I can give to this question. Sometimes ideas come when I'm falling asleep. Sometimes music inspires me. I'd say most often, though, it is visual, especially with color.
What role does technology play in your creative process?
I blog, sell my art online, and print some elements that I use in my art journal.
What is art?
A means of expression.
When do you get your best ideas?
At night. Always at night.
How do you evaluate whether an idea is good or not?
I usally don't. I'm pretty impulsive.
When and how did you begin to see yourself as an artist?
I have always done some sort of creative "work". But I couldn't actually say I was an artist until I sold some of my work.
Why do so many artists and creators have such volatile personalities?
I'm not sure I agree. I do find many artists have impulses and strong emotions. I think it's a chicken/egg question.
Which artists do you admire and how do they influence your work?
Friday Kahlo - her courage!! Leonardo DaVinci - his dedication and curiosity.
In art, there is no guide. How do you know what the next step is?
Oh, wow, I don't know. It just seems to come ... it just makes sense.
What role have the figures of art dealer, gallery owners, representatives, and intermediaries in general played in your career?
I have avoided any situation where there is someone who thinks they know more about my art than I do.
What advice would you give to those just beginning?
Do it!! And do it again. And again. And don't stop.
